Ave Maria University Department of Sports Medicine
Welcome to Ave Maria University! The Department of Sports Medicine is looking forward to your visit to our campus. Our staff will be available to assist you and your team with all your medical needs.
General Information
A certified Athletic Trainer will be present for all home hosted event/competitions
The Athletic Training Room is located inside the Tom Golisano Field House.
The Athletic Training Facility is equipped with state of the art equipment, emergency supplies, rehab equipment and general supplies
Each team will be provided with water, cups/bottles, and ice bags
Each team is responsible for bringing shower and bench towels for personal use
Emergency equipment available will include but is not limited to; AED's, stretchers, crutches, and splinting materials
Physicians will be on call, and arrangements will be made for all necessary medical procedures
Treatment
The Ave Maria athletic training facility will be available to provide necessary treatments for your student athletes. Please call ahead to arrange treatment times.
Only basic treatments (ice/hydrocollator packs) will be given to a visiting student athlete unless we receive a written protocol from the visiting team's Head Trainer detailing the type of treatment to be rendered.
Traveling without an ATC
Please notify us in advance if your team will not be traveling with an ATC, so we can make the necessary arrangements to provide the additional coverage.
Please send your teams with all necessary supplies (medical kit and taping items).
Please send all student-athlete insurance and emergency contact information with your team.
Please notify us if you plan to practice while on campus so we can provide the necessary provisions for your team.
Showers
Showers are located in the locker rooms of the Tom Golisano Field House. Two locker rooms, Henry and Isabel, are accessed inside the main hallway of the field house. Please call in advance if your team will be showering while on campus. Teams are required to bring their own towels and shower supplies. A university representative will accompany you to the location.
