Coach Tim Speakman has coached football for twenty-five
years. He is the Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receiver coach for Ave Maria
University, bringing his passion for the game to the first collegiate football
program in southwest Florida.
Speakman most recently served as the head football coach at
Palmetto Ridge High School in Naples, Florida (2005-2009). He built a brand new
Palmetto Ridge program as he led them to a 7-3 record and the Florida State
Playoffs in just their third year of existence. From 2002 to 2005, Speakman was
the Tight End coach at previous National Champions Division I AA Appalachian
State under the direction of head coach Jerry Moore.
He stepped onto the coaching scene at Kent State University
when he served as a student assistant under Glen Mason (Kansas, Minnesota) and
Dick Crum (North Carolina). He has also worked under Bob Stoops (Florida,
Oklahoma) as an intern at Kent State.
Speakman has also been a volunteer guest coach for the
Montreal Alouetts of the Canadian Football League under Head Coach and General
Manager Dave Ritchie. For two years, Speakman served as Quality Control for the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers under Head Coach Tony Dungy.
Coach Speakman graduated from Kent State University in Kent,
Ohio, and is married to his wife Jennifer. They have two children; Taylor
Marie, 5 years old and Tyler James, 2 years old.
