Carlos Padron was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

The Ave Maria University Baseball Team lost to Florida Memorial University by score of 6-5 Thursday in Opa Locka, Florida.

AMU took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning that was sparked by a Brian Trymbiski single to left field. Carlos Padron doubled in Trymbiski with a shot to left center, and the next batter, Pete Lesniewski, reached on a fielder's choice. Alex Sanchez hit AMU's second double of the inning to bring Lesniewski and Padron in to score. 

The Lions used a three-run 6th inning to climb back and tie the game at three. AMU made errors in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings that would give the Lions all the help they needed to secure the win. 

AMU starter Nolan Luyk allowed just 2 hits and 3 runs in 5 2/3 innings, but it was a rough day for the Gyrenes' bullpen as they gave up 8 hits in the remainder of the game. FMU's David Colon threw a complete game to earn the victory. 

Ave Maria will host Clearwater Christian College in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon. The game will be played at Veterans Community Park in Naples off Immokalee Road.
