The Ave Maria University Baseball Team lost to Warner University on the road by score of 4-1 despite a solid pitching performance from the Gyrenes' starting pitcher Cody Muren.
Muren, a Jacksonville, Florida native, pitched six innings and gave up just 3 hits to the Royals who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA national poll. The Gyrenes out-hit the Royals 8-6 and had opportunities to score, but were unable to execute with runners in scoring position. Tom Bracht pitched a scoreless eighth inning with 2 strikeouts. Muren took the loss for the Gyrenes.
The Royals used seven pitchers in the game to hold the Gyrenes scoreless after the first inning.
AMU's catcher, Gabe Loweree, went 3 for 3 with a double and had the Gyrenes' only RBI. The Gyrenes are now 20-22 overall while the Royals up their record to 25-22.
