The Gyrenes lost a pair of games on Saturday versus NAIA institution Emmanuel College by scores of 5-0 and 6-2 at Bowie's Ballpark.

In Saturday's Game One, Emmanuel College scored two runs in the first inning and tacked on three more in the fourth inning. Eagles' starting pitcher Blaine Seagraves through seven shutout innings and allowed just three hits.

Gabe Loweree, Conor Sullivan, and Nick Sacchetta were each 1 for 3 hitting for Ave Maria. Joe Bocchino took the loss on the mound in Game One after 3.2 innings of work. Zach Quayle, Taylor Walker, and Zach Smith combined for 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. On the weekend, the Gyrene bullpen did not allow a single earned run.

In Game Two, the Gyrenes found themselves down 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. AMU scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut within three, but the Eagles added another unearned run in the seventh to go on to win 6-2. Justin James took the loss after going four innings allowing three earned runs. Relievers Brian Mackin, John Osborne, and Ralph Lenzi combined for the final three innings and did not allow an earned run.

Offensively, Trace McDermott finished 2 for 3 with a single and a double. Shortstop Alex Sanchez went 1 for 3 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. Edgardo Balentine had the remaining hit for the Gyrenes.

The Gyrenes host Florida Christian College in a single game on Friday, February 3rd at 2 p.m. On Saturday, both teams complete the three-game series with a noon doubleheader.
