Kiel Lewis has been named Ave Maria University's Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending 12-13-09. The Women's Basketball Team did not play last week.
Freshman and Orlando, Florida native Kiel Lewis came off the bench to lead AMU with 15 points last week against Florida Southern. Florida Southern, who is ranked #4 nationally in the NCAA DII poll, was AMU's first ever NCAA Division II opponent. AMU lost the exhibition 88-57, but Lewis wasn't phased by the competition. The 6'2" Lewis handed out 5 assists and made 3 steals in the game. Lewis shot a perfect 6 of 6 from the floor. He was an impressive 11-12 shooting from the floor with 6 total steals during the week.
In last week's 103-62 win against Florida Christian Lewis had 10 points. He was 5-6 shooting with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
