AMU dropped to 5-4 overall with the loss to Southeastern.

The visiting Southeastern University Fire defeated the Ave Maria Men's Basketball Team 72-55 Saturday afternoon at the Donahue Academy Gymnasium. AMU is now 5-4 and will take on Waldorf College tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the Donahue Academy Gymnasium.

The Gyrenes were outscored 41-25 in the first half, but played stronger in the second half being outplayed by just one point. The Fire were 58.5 percent shooting while the Gyrenes shot 40 percent. AMU shot a lower percentage than usual from behind the arc and it cost them. 

Jimmy Torney had 15 points for AMU and Chris Scanlan had 9. Southeastern's Malcolm Pollock led all scorers in the game with 18 points.
