Marc Rozanski and Carey Fullilove have been named Ave Maria University's Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending 1-17-2010.
Rozanski earns his second player of the week nomination after playing a significant role in the recent win over Webber International University. Rozanski scored 23 points on 7 of 10 shooting and hit 3 clutch three-point shots. He also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block in the game. The Gyrenes won 81-63 to mark their first win of The Sun Conference.
Sophomore Carey Fullilove averages 13.3 points as she helped the Lady Gyrenes go 2-1 on the week. Fullilove began the week with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals against Southeastern University. She played all but 3 minutes of the game as AMU won 65-51. Then, against conference opponent Northwood University Carey scored 17 and was a perfect 6 of 6 at the line. In their blowout win over Johnson and Wales University, Carey had 9 points, 5 boards, 3 assists and a steal. Her playing time was limited because of the large scoring gap. AMU won the game 80-36.
