Jimmy Torney and Dylan Fugate each scored 15 points to lead AMU past Johnson and Wales University at home Saturday afternoon. The 88-74 win puts the Gyrenes at 11-15 overall and 5-9 in the league. The Gyrenes made 53 percent of their field goals, and connected on 30 of 36 free throws to silence the Wildcats for good late in the game.

Dylan Fugate scored his 15 on 4 of 8 shooting that included a three-pointer, and was 6 for 6 at the line. Jimmy Torney's jump shot was on as he went 5 for 7 from the field and 5 for 5 at the line to round out his 15 points. Kiel Lewis scored 13 with 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Chris Scanlan shot 4 of 5 in the field and was 2 for 2 at the stripe to total 10 points, while teammate Daniel Vivas had a similar game. Vivas was 4 for 4 shooting and 2 for 2 at the free throw line to score a total of 10 points. Vivas led AMU with 6 assists.

The Basketball Team plays at home on Wednesday the 17th against Florida Memorial University at 7 p.m. AMU lost a close game to FMU earlier this year in Miami 53-45, and look to even the score with a win at the Donahue Academy Gym this week.
