The Gyrenes won their last four games of the season and lifted themselves into a four-way fourth place tie in The Sun Conference. Their most recent conference win was at home versus St. Thomas University of Miami. The Gyrenes controlled the game en route to a 69-59 victory at the Donahue Academy Gymnasium.
AMU was led by solid efforts from Kiel Lewis and Dylan Fugate who scored 21 and 13 points. Lewis has been a defensive spark plug all season for the Gyrenes. His 2 steals in the game put him at 45 steals on the year. His 21 points tied his season high for scoring, and he finished the season as the Gyrenes' second highest scorer, averaging just under 10 points per game.
Fugate, a 6'5" freshman from Valrico, Florida concluded the season as the leading scorer for AMU. He averaged over 11 points per game and scored 13 in the latest victory over St. Thomas. He also led the team in rebounds per game with 4.5 a game. Versus St. Thomas, Fugate pulled down 8 rebounds with 2 assists, a block and a steal.
Chris Scanlan played well off the bench to throw in 11 points on a perfect 4 for 4 in the field and 2 for 2 at the line with a 3 pointer.
Starter Marc Rozanski had 10 points, and Jimmy Torney had 8 points with 7 rebounds.
They finished the Sun Conference with a 7-9 record and a 14-15 overall record.
