Head Men's Golf Coach Peter Wood

Coach Peter Wood is a professional educator and coach with extensive background both as a teacher and golf coach. During the last eleven years, he has been the head coach of the golf program at Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida, and taught six classes of religion in each of those years.

A number of Coach Wood's players have graduated and played college and professional golf. His teams have won district and regional championships and competed in the state championship seven out of the last eleven years.

Coach Wood is a graduate of Florida State University and spent several years in graduate studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. He has competed in amateur tournaments through the years including an attempt at qualifying for the U.S. Amateur.

Recently hired as the Head Coach of the golf program and Volunteer Coordinator at Ave Maria University, Coach Wood's coaching philosophy is centered around the conviction that good golf is the result of sound fundamentals, character development, and organized practices. Since golf at the college level is a team sport, it is absolutely essential that the individuals participating commit to becoming a team. Coach Wood believes that college golf must be played within the context of the overall mission of Ave Maria University which is committed to The Splendor of Truth within The Heart of the Church.

Coach Wood is married. He and his wife, Paula, look forward to living in Ave Maria, Florida
