Ave Maria University's softball team ran into a buzzsaw Saturday in St. Augustine, losing 9-0 and 11-0 to Flagler College, an NCAA Division II team.

Chelsey Thompson, playing near her hometown of Jacksonville, was the lone bright spot for the Gyrenes, reaching base three times on a single, walk and error with a stolen base.

Ave Maria, now 6-9, ends a season-long 11-game road swing Tuesday at Miami Dade College before returning home against South Florida Community College next Saturday.
