The 2009 Ave Maria University volleyball team needed only 3 sets to put away the visiting College of the Bahamas. The gyrenes won the first set 25-13 before they poured it on in the second set with a 25-5 pounding followed by a score of 25-15 in the third set.
Senior Middle Hitter/Blocker Adriana Vianna dos Santos led the Gyrene attack with 9 kills and 5 service aces, with fellow senior Saira Morgan contributing 5 kills, 2 aces, and a team high 5 digs. Christianne Ludwick, a freshman from Slingerhands, NY played well in her college debut with 3 kills, 4 aces, and 4 digs. Freshman Megan Arago had a team high 10 set assists.
Janet Wiliams of the College of the Bahamas led the game with 13 digs.
The volleyball team looks to carry its momentum into Friday August 28th as they travel to Lakeland, Florida to take on the Southeastern University Fire in a 7 p.m. conference matchup.
