The Ave Maria University Volleyball team evened their record in The Sun Conference at 3-3 with win over the visiting Edward Waters College.
After suffering a loss to #23 ranked Savannah College of Art and Design on Thursday, the Lady Gyrenes bounced back with a well played game against EWC. They topped the Tigers 3-0 with sets of 25-19, 25-9, and 25-16.
In the spotlight for AMU was #1 Adriana Vianna. The senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil led all players with 15 kills and 25 digs. Vianna's exceptional play was backed by her teammates. Freshman Christianne Ludwick had yet another great game. The Bethlehem Central High graduate from Slingerlands, New York registered 9 kills and 15 digs. Senior Carissa Posch added 8 kills to AMU's offensive attack, and senior Saira Morgan had a solid game with 4 kills and 15 digs.
Leading the assists category for AMU was Freshman Jackie Gonales from El Paso, Texas. She had 18 assists followed by #9 Megan Arago's 15.
On the other side of the net, Sophomore Alexandria Brooks of Edward Waters College led her team with 6 kills.
The Lady Gyrenes will travel to West Palm Beach, FL tomorrow for a Saturday contest against conference opponent Northwood University. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
