The AMU Women's basketball team played the first of two away games this weekend and defeated Clearwater Christian 72-51 behind the solid play of all twleve players who made the trip.
Sandy Jenkins and Mimi Loveland led the Gyrenes with 13 points each, Emily Huber had 11, Erika Derks 10 and Carey Fullilove 8. The Gyrenes had a shakey start, falling behind in the first few minutes. They recovered and led by 14 points at the half. The lead would stretch to as much as 30 points before closing with a 21 point win. The team had a rough week with limited practice due to academics.
The team left immediately after the game for a four hour ride to St. Augustine where they will face Flagler College on Sunday.
