The women's basketball team may have played their bast half of basketball this year in the second half against Flagler College on Sunday.
After shooting 9 for 36 from the field and 5 for 16 from the foul line in the first half, the Lady Gyrenes trailed by 19 points 24-43 to a very good shooting Flagler College team. Flagler ended the day shooting 49% from the field. The Lady Gyrenes came back strong in the second half led by Erika Derks' 16 second half points, Emily Huber's 12 second half points and Carey Fullilove's 10 second half points. The three guards combined for 38 of the Gyrenes 43 second half points as AMU cut the lead to 6 points with under 8 minutes to go. Flagler played strong down the stretch and hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer to win by 19 points.
The Lady Gyrenes play their first home game of the year Friday, November 20th against The College of the Bahamas at 7:00 p.m. at the Donahue Academy Gym.
