Free Throws Propel Lady Gyrenes Past Rochester

The Lady Gyrenes came back after halftime to defeat Rochester College by two on Wednesday. The Warriors led 16-8 to start the game and maintained their lead going into the half (27-21). However, the Lady Gyrenes weren't finished as they came back to win the game by score of 51-49. The Lady Gyrenes are 1-0 in The Sun Conference and currently lead the conference with a 7-6 overall record.

Emily Huber paced AMU with 14 points. She was 5 of 5 at the line. Collectively, AMU made 21 free throws on the night while Rochester managed just 6. Sandy Jenkins had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Jenkins was a perfect 4 for 4 at the line as well.

For the Warriors, Sam Tomachko had 11 points and 5 blocks.

AMU, who won their first conference game of the season versus Warner University, will look to improve on their two-game win streak against conference opponent Florida Memorial University on Friday. The game will begin at 7 p.m. in Miami Gardens, Florida.
