The Ave Maria University Women's Basketball Team lost to Florida Memorial University Friday night 71-47. The Lady Gyrenes are now 1-1 in league play and 7-7 overall. Florida Memorial improved to 2-0 in the Sun Conference and 6-9 overall.

Emily Huber topped the scoring for AMU with 11 points, 8 boards, and a steal. She also had an assist and a blocked shot. Amy Myler had 10 points and 5 rebounds, Erika Derks had 7 points and 8 rebounds, and Teya Spooner-Serdar added 7 points.

Tiffani Green scored 14 for Florida Memorial.

The Lady Gyrenes will play again Saturday in a conference game against St. Thomas University. The game begins at 2 p.m. in Miami Lakes, Florida.
