The Lady Gyrenes have punished their last two opponents by scoring 80 and 81 points in the last two games.
AMU defeated the visiting Clearwater Christian College 81-48 to bump their overall record above .500 on the season. AMU sits at 10-9 overall and 2-3 in The Sun Conference. Clearwater Christian fell to 3-8.
The Lady Gyrenes fought hard on the glass to outrebound their opponent 54-24. They were able to force 24 turnovers and made 15 steals in the game. Sandy Jenkins shined with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Nine of her rebounds came on the offensive side of the floor.
Freshman starter, Emily Huber handed out 9 assists and contributed defensively with 4 steals. Fellow guard Erika Derks had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Senior forward, Saira Morgan shot 6 of 6 from the floor to tally 12 points on the night with 7 rebounds. Kristin Lange and Mimi Loveland rounded out the scoring effort with 9 points each.
The Lady Gyrenes have won 3 of their last 4 games and will face Webber International University on Friday.
