The AMU Women's Basketball Team defeated Warner University for the second time this season with a 67-63 road win Saturday afternoon. AMU trailed by 11 at the half and as much as 17 in the first period, but were unstoppable in the second half as they outscored the Lady Royals 44-29.
AMU have made their university known by everyone in The Sun Conference with a 14-9 overall record in just their first season as a member. They hold a 5-3 conference record that gives them a 3rd place standing thus far. Warner fell to 9-12 and 3-5 in the conference.
Amy Myler had a double-double in the win over Warner. She scored 10 points with 14 rebounds. Emily Huber remains consistent on the year with 15 points in the game, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Kristin Lange came off the bench to score 13 points before being forced to leave the game with an unfortunate and disappointing injury to her knee. She scored her 13 points by shooting 4 for 4 in the field, which included 3 three-pointers. She made her only two free throws, and had 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. She played 15 minutes of the game.
AMU plays again at home on February 5th at 7 p.m. They take on Conference challenger Florida Memorial University who holds a 5-3 Sun Conference record as well. This should make for an exciting game on campus at the Donahue Academy Gym.
