The Lady Gyrenes started the game with a determined defensive effort, holding the Sun Conference second ranked St Thomas Bobcats to 24 first half points. The Gyrenes held a 5 point halftime lead.
The second half saw the Gyrenes hold the Bobcats scoreless for the first 8 minutes of the half while building a 30 point lead. St Thomas is #2 for a reason as they outscored the Gyrenes 28-7 over the next 8 minutes. The final four minutes were hotly contested with the Gyrenes making their foul shots and finally defeating the Bobcats 73-62.
Emily Huber led the Gyrenes with 23 points and Saira Morgan, who was recognized before the game as the only Senior on the team playing her last home game scored 12 points and had 8 rebounds. Carey Fullilove and Erika Derks each contributed double digit scoring with 14 points and 10 points respectively.
