Tamica Mora, the leading scorer in South Lake High School history, signed a letter of intent to play women's basketball at Ave Maria University in the fall.
Tamica signed in the presence of her parents, Rick and Bell Mora, younger brother Maverick and her coach Amanda Shafer. Tamica averaged 18 points, 5 assists and 3 steals per game and was her team's captain for three years. Tamica was named one of the Orlando Sentinel's Super-Six shooters in Central Florida last year.
Tamica is also a top student, member of the National Honor Society and maintaned a 3.8 GPA throughout high school. AMU women's coach Bob Batson said, "Tamica will bring her offensive skills and leadership to our team. Her academics should allow her to be successful in our challenging academic environment."
Coach Amanda Shafer, girls' head coach at South Lake, could not speak more highly of Tamica and was instrumental in developing Tamica's basketball skills.
At her signing Tamica thanked her family, teammates and coaches. "I thank my family for believing in me, my teammates who supported me and helped make our team successful and Coach Shafer for all she has done."
Tamica is AMU's women's basketball program's seventh signee.
