The Ave Maria University Women's Soccer team won its first game as a new member of The Sun Conference. They are now 1-1 having lost to St. Thomas University on Thursday, September 10th.

With the rain on its way, AMU made the first half count. They scored five goals while allowing Johnson and Wales just one goal.

Freshman Caitlin Millich got the ball rolling for the Lady Gyrenes on a shot with 6 minutes underway in the first. Beth Greve scored next on an assist from sophomore Raquel Ledesma. Ledesma also had one goal in the game. Freshmen Dallan Diaz and Kelsey Smith each had one goal, and Eliza Scarnecchia scored in the second half before lightning in the area forced the game to be shortened.

The soccer team will play again at home Tuesday, September 15th at 5 p.m.
